Outstanding GCSE Results

We are delighted to announce stunning GCSE results, breaking previous records by a considerable margin.

Half of all results are at Grade 7 (A) or better, and 18% of grades were Grade 9 which is reserved for the top 3% of students nationally.  32% of results were Graded 8 or 9 (or the equivalent A*). Seven students scored at least 9 Grade 9s, of whom three scored 10.  A third of students achieved at least 8 GCSEs at Grade 7 (A) or better.

This year virtually all subjects have now moved to new courses and grade structures, which are designed to increase academic expectations.  We are therefore particularly pleased that our percentage of results at Grade 5 and above (considered a ‘strong pass’) has increased to 83.2%, a significant increase on last year.  93% of results were at Grades 9-4 (the equivalent of an A*-C pass on the old system).

Students have risen undaunted to the new challenges, and our ‘value-added’ score, measuring progress during their time at JCoSS, is also our strongest ever. Over 30% of grades in Jewish Education, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and History were at Grade 9.

Among many outstanding individual performances are those of:

(NB: Grade A** in the list above is an exceptional A* grade in Further Maths GCSE)

We rejoice at these excellent raw grades, and also at the many students who have far exceeded personal goals and school targets.  We salute also the huge achievements of Guy A Sherman, Ari Weiler-Ofek, Victoria Godfrey, Abigail Tucker, Misha Vides, and Daniel Stavrou, and there are many more who could have been on either of these lists.

Headteacher, Mr Moriarty commented: ‘We are delighted by the outstanding GCSE results that our students have achieved, which surpass our already strong track record.  Their hard work and resilience, married to the expertise and care of their teachers, have enabled them to meet the increased challenges of new specifications with flair.  I am exceptionally proud of students and colleagues alike.’
