We are thrilled that 13 JCoSS students have received Oxbridge offers this year – 10% of the year group, and more than double the number that received offers last year. The successful students have been accepted to a range of courses including Natural Sciences, Engineering, Maths, Music, Law and Philosophy.
The Scholars programme at JCoSS is for Y12 and Y13 students who want to apply to Oxbridge or medicine. The course, led by Adam Boxer, gives students the opportunity to participate in an extensive programme of enrichment and support through talks from admissions tutors and outreach workers, as well as extensive interview preparation and 1:1 personal statement support. Students meet weekly to build and refine their ‘super-curricular portfolios’ which are a record of the wide reading and research they have conducted beyond the confines of their A Level studies.
Mr Moriarty commented ‘The Scholars programme has continued to evolve since the 6th Form began at JCoSS, and we are delighted that this excellent programme has contributed to the success of a significant number of our students. 13 offers in one year is an amazing achievement and is down to the shear hard work and determination of our students and teachers.’
Mr Boxer commented ‘I am thrilled by the achievements of our students this year and that they have been rewarded for the astonishingly large amount of work and preparation which they undertook.’
An overwhelming majority of the year group have also received offers from their chosen universities, many from Russell Group Universities including Imperial College, UCL, Bristol, Durham, Warwick and include offers for highly competitive courses including Medicine and Law.
