Mitzvah Day was a huge success at JCoSS, with a large number of activities taking place throughout the day.
During lunchtime on Friday, students were invited to participate in Camp Simcha’s Balloon Project. For the donation of £1, students purchased a special Camp Simcha balloon and attached a message to it. These were then delivered to children in hospital.
Also, Magen David Adom’s trained 1st aiders came in to teach students the recovery position. This was a hugely successful initiative and many students came to see how to carry out the ultimate mitzvah of saving somebody’s life!
Years 7 & 8 students supported our ‘Gift in Kind’ project, bringing in new children’s toys to be used as birthday presents for the children and siblings of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Students also donated unwanted CDs and DVDs for the Tzedek ‘CDs Seed of Hope’ project, in order to help break the cycle of poverty. Students that made a contribution also had the unique opportunity to vote on which Tzedek projects in Africa and Asia will receive this Mitzvah Day funding. This simple initiative will seed hope for thousands living in extreme poverty.
