We are so proud of our Head Student, Jacob, who has launched his Head Student Project in partnership with Streetwise, called ‘Generation Changemakers’ – an initiative designed to build understanding between Jewish and non-Jewish communities.
The project brought together Year 10 students from JCoSS with students from Bushy Mead School for a morning of learning, discussion and shared experiences. Acting as ambassadors for the Jewish community, the Year 10 students proudly represented JCoSS, sharing their own experiences, answering questions and helping to build genuine connections with their peers.
Throughout the morning, students took part in a range of interactive activities, including a mock Friday night dinner where Bushy Mead students experienced the traditions and significance of Shabbat in a welcoming and engaging environment. They also explored Jewish identity, challenged common misconceptions, discussed antisemitism and reflected on the importance of respect, dialogue and standing up to prejudice.
The programme was a huge success, with Bushy Mead students embracing every activity and leaving with a greater understanding of Judaism and Jewish life. We are incredibly proud of our Year 10 ambassadors for the maturity, compassion and enthusiasm they showed throughout the project, and for the positive impact they have had on our wider community.
We are excited that, through our partnership with Streetwise, Generation Changemakers will continue to grow, giving even more young people the opportunity to learn from one another, challenge prejudice and build lasting understanding between communities.
