Course Content

The Cambridge Technical in Business is a vocational course that helps you build a portfolio of valuable work-related skills. It’s excellent preparation for employment after sixth form, while also giving you a strong foundation if you’re applying for university.
Business is a dynamic and fast-changing sector, constantly adapting to new markets, technologies and ways of working. On this course, you’ll explore a wide range of business functions, including marketing, human resources and enterprise. Through practical projects and case studies, you’ll develop creative and strategic solutions to real-world business challenges. You’ll also have the opportunity to specialise in areas of business that match your interests and future career goals.

You will study a range of topics, including:
• The business environment
• Working in business
• Customers and communication
• Marketing and market research
• Principles of project management

Assessment

The majority of the units are assessed by producing project-based work throughout the course. Two of the five units are assessed by exams.

Expectations

Students need to be self-motivated and able to work on extended research projects. Organisation and presentation skills are important as is an enthusiasm to learn about business. Links to organisations and the opportunity to undertake work experience will prove very useful in helping students relate what they study to actual practice.
