Computing
28/02/2019

Computing gives students the chance to develop their problem-solving skills and also their creativity.

We begin by ensuring solid ICT literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and online research and then move on to coding fundamentals using block-based languages such as Scratch, taking students beyond the material they have typically covered in primary school. We then move to text-based coding in Python as well as website creation using HTML and CSS.

A weekly coding club gives students more time to develop their own creations.

Students get a chance to specialise in Computing in Year 9 where they get a chance to study coding in more depth. Computer Science is offered as a GCSE in Years 10 and 11.
