Careers Fairs at JCoSS

All students in Years 8, 9 and 12 have had the chance to find out about a range of careers at two major events which have taken place at JCoSS this term.

The Art, Design and Technology Careers Day  in January involved Year 8 students spending the whole morning getting ‘hands-on’ with activities ranging from screen-printing to floristry and graphic design.  Eleven participants kindly volunteered their time, including parents. There was excellent feedback from students who were asked to complete feedback forms about the event.

Isaac Reuben has won a prize for his feedback, which was in the form of this Sonnet:

JCoSS Careers Day was useful and fun,
First Year 8 Careers Day ever been done,
Showed us the good bits of an art career,
To decide whether to do art next year.

A whole host of things in just four hours
Photos to take to designing flowers,
A day of such fun, it really was great
The Etz Limmud skill to participate

‘Observe’ and ‘research’ and ‘analyse’ too,
Interesting, useful the whole morning through,
Choose whether to do art GCSE
Fun and Engagement, the Etz Limmud tree,

The students all loved it, they screamed ‘hooray!’
At the JCoSS, Year 8, art careers day.

Meanwhile the annual Careers Fair for Years 9 and 12 on March 9 was another big success with more than 20 career areas represented including medicine, engineering, property, law, hairdressing, sport and fashion.  Again participants included a number of parents.

A big ‘thank you’ to all parents and friends of JCoSS who helped make these events such a success.
