Trustees, Governors, supporters, staff and students of JCoSS gathered today for the Official Opening of the Dorfman Wing. Guests heard Head Boy Samuel Danker and Head Girl Ruth Launer give an emotional speech as to why JCoSS is a truly special school and JCoSS President Gerald Ronson CBE spoke thanking the donors for their continued support. Lloyd Dorfman CBE, whom the Wing is named after, made thought-provoking remarks remembering the initial stages of the school’s inception, and highlighting how far the school had come today.
Patrick Moriarty, Headteacher commented: “Due to the wonderful support of Lloyd and Sarah Dorfman and other generous members of our community, we now have a new specialist IT classroom, a new Art room, a fantastic new DT classroom, as well as further additional classrooms that can be used for many subjects. These new classrooms are vital to our expanding sixth form and will ensure that we can offer a wide curriculum of A Level and vocational courses”.
Lloyd Dorfman CBE added: “My family and I are delighted to continue our association with the school through the new Dorfman wing. Back in 2006, we were amongst a handful of donors to be early backers of the school. We have continued to support the school, and are honoured to have a new wing named after our family. The school has outstanding leadership, an important cross-communal outlook and an impressive group of students. It is a privilege and a pleasure for us to be involved.”
