This Role: We are looking for a skillful SEN teacher (QTS would be preferable) with experience in meeting the needs of autistic students, to join our teaching team in the Pears Special Resource Provision (PSRP).  This 49-place provision, housed in exceptional specialist accommodation, is one of the largest in the country, and its reputation for excellent outcomes makes it hugely oversubscribed.  JCoSS is proud of its culture of flexibility, inclusion and humanity, and PSRP students move fluidly between the provision and the main school according to their needs and presentation.  The expertise of PSRP staff permeates the whole school, where there are as many ASC students outside the PSRP as within it.

An experienced team of teaching and support staff work collaboratively to ensure both academic and personal progress for all PSRP students, with a key focus on developing social thinking and preparing students for transitions and for their future lives.  Some achieve the school’s highest academic results and progress to university, others are prepared for employment and grow skills for independent living; this variety of successful pathways relies on careful induction, bespoke provision and deep knowledge of autism.

Knowledge and understanding of the repertoire of strategies that enable ASC students to flourish is essential and you will need a track record of excellent teaching in a neurodiverse context. Any subject specialism can be considered, and the willingness to teach a range of subjects is a great advantage.

The post is suitable for newly qualified or experienced teachers, and we offer ECT employment for the last few weeks of the summer term.
