JCoSS has received the highest possible grading for a Pikuach Inspection, scoring ‘Outstanding’ in all six categories.  The school, which received a ‘1’ for every area of inspection also received a highly complimentary and glowing report.

Inspectors reported that “Jewish Education has a very high and respected profile within the school, and learning activities provide fully for the needs of all learners.  Teaching is outstanding and, together with a rich Jewish curriculum, contributes to outstanding learning and achievement.  Teachers consistently demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and an understanding of the subjects they teach.”

Inspectors also stressed that “the quality of leadership and management of Jewish Education is outstanding.  There is clearly a dynamic and creative vision for Jewish Education in which staff, governors and students strive consistently for excellence.”

As well as receiving high praise for the school’s formal and informal Jewish Education, JCoSS was held in high regard for the behaviour of students: “Behaviour is outstanding in lessons and around the school.  Senior leaders have created a school in which students move around quietly and purposefully at all times.” The report also goes on to say that “There is a culture of kindness that permeates the school [and] examples of kindness were observed in corridors”.

Patrick Moriarty, Headteacher, commented, ‘We could not be more delighted that Pikuach have graded JCoSS outstanding in every category.  This recognises our Jewish Education provision as a jewel in the JCoSS crown, and pays full tribute to the hard work and dedication that the Jewish Education team put in so generously. 

Both the formal and informal education we provide is truly the heartbeat of our school and we are thrilled that this has been recognised for the community to see.  The report not only recognises the professionalism and excellence of colleagues, but also highlights the exceptional good behaviour and the menschlich character of our students.’
