Grandparents’ Afternoon

JCoSS was delighted to welcome over 200 grandparents and other family members of Year 7 and Year 12 students to our annual Grandparents’ Afternoon. This is always a fantastic opportunity for the school to meet these important members of our new students’ families and for grandparents to get an introduction to the school and a chance to tour the building.

Following tea with background music provided by Natalie Dalcher in Year 9 and Eve Rhodes in Year 8, grandparents were treated to further outstanding musical performances by Ben Feigenbaum, Year 8 (piano), Natalie Sternberg, Year 12 (singing) and Hannah Kieve, Year 7 (piano). Mr Moriarty gave an overview of the school before the grandparents were met by their eagerly waiting grandchildren for a tour.

It was an absolute pleasure to host our guests, many of whom hadn’t visited a secondary school for many years and were amazed by the building and its facilities. From the feedback we have received, we know that they really enjoyed the afternoon.

Many thanks to all the staff who helped in the organisation of the afternoon, to CaterPlus for the tea and to The Flower and Balloon Room for donating a beautiful flower and balloon display.

Huge thanks also to our student ambassadors who ‘meeted and greeted’ and made sure that our guests were comfortable. Thanks also, of course, to the enormously talented musicians who entertained our guests.
