Celebrating Yom Ha’aztmaut in style

JCoSS Students showed their blue and white spirit as the School celebrated Yom Ha’aztmaut in style.

Yom Ha’aztmaut was a huge success for JCoSS this year. The School day began with an Israeli breakfast in form rooms provided by Great Food Company.  Students then split into project groups where students looked at Israel through different lenses.  Special guests included: David Yehuda Stern from Cartoon Kipper, Shir Klezmer Band, Youth Movement Workers, Magen David Adom and the Israeli Dance Institute.

Our students produced some excellent work including a dome structure, beautiful art prints and some inspirational poetry. The celebrations ended with a special Gala show with performances from Shir.

As well as learning about Israel, students raised over £300 for the school’s Israel Charity- The Israeli Guide Dog Association.

Miss Minsky the school’s Informal Jewish education and Social Action Co-ordinator commented ‘The day was designed to show our students the multiple aspects of Israeli society and the different ways it is possible to engage with Israel, it’s culture and people.’
